Arrest made in stabbing

A 19-year-old Clanton man was arrested Tuesday in connection with a stabbing.

The suspect was taken into custody at Clanton City Park. He has been charged with second-degree assault, third-degree domestic violence and illegal possession of prescription medication, according to information provided by Clanton Police Department.

Officers responded to the 900 block of 8th Street in Clanton, and an investigation determined one male subject had been stabbed and one female subject had been physically assaulted.

The offender had left the scene.

The stabbing victim was transported by ambulance to Shelby Baptist Medical Center. The injuries were not considered life-threatening. The other victim was treated and released on the scene.

The suspect was later located by patrol officers.

“I appreciated the quick response of our patrol officers in them locating the offender and bringing this case to a quick resolution,” CPD Cpl. Whitney Ray said in a release.
