Jemison reduces license fee for sale and distribution of alcohol

Arrests made for assault, drug related, warrants served, driving under the influence (DUI), theft and burglary, or miscellaneous arrests came to a total of 619 arrest charges that was up 16 percent from 2011.

Citations written during 2012 came to a total of 1,270 citations, up 27 percent from 2011.

Fulmer said the number of traffic accidents worked came to 157, down 7.6 percent from 2011. Traffic stops made in 2012 came to 3,437, up 48 percent from 2011.

The council concluded the meeting by approving the cost of a maintenance truck for $5,500 and to pay an invoice to the grant writer who worked on a grant for the Jemison Fire Department (JFD) for enhancing fire protection coverage in the community.

JFD received a $106, 240 federal grant in December.

Bittle acknowledged Fire Chief John Dennis who worked on the grant for more than two years and thanked him for securing something that would help support the community.
