Chilton County under severe thunderstorm warning (updated)

A severe thunderstorm warning for Chilton County has been extended until 8:45 p.m.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham issued the warning about 6:15 p.m.

Other counties under the warning include Autauga, Bibb, Dallas, Perry and Shelby.

According to the warning, the NWS indicated a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 mph, which could break large tree limbs and cause damage to smaller structures.

Precautionary actions recommended include moving to an interior room on the lowest floor of your home.
