The Maplesville High School girls basketball team left Verbena with a 36-30 victory on Dec. 17.

Verbena took the lead early as they went into the second quarter with an 8-6 edge.

MHS went on a 15-6 run through the rest of the half.

Kiana Andrews led Maplesville’s second quarter run as she scored all five of her points in the quarter.

Maplesville led 21-12 heading into the locker room.

Verbena’s Karoline Moore and Jameshia Green led their team within two points of MHS in the third quarter.

Moore had seven points in the quarter while Green had four.

Maplesville still held a 28-26 lead over Verbena at the end of the third.

MHS struggled in the second half to score as they only made five field goals, but that was enough as their second quarter run proved to be too much for Verbena to overcome.

MHS doubled up Verbena in the fourth quarter, 8-4, to give the Red Devils from Maplesville the 36-30 victory over the Red Devils from Verbena.
