Basketball season tips off

Thorsby and Verbena tipped off the local high school basketball season with boys and girls games on Nov. 13.

Thorsby’s boys won 49-34, and Verbena’s girls won 48-22.

The VHS girls outscored their opponents 11-2 in the first period, and host Thorsby would never threaten.

Lacey Short posted 21 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists for the Red Devils, and Jameshia Green had 16 points and 20 rebounds.
