Vehicle crash at former Stokes

Published 5:07pm Friday, November 9, 2012

An elderly man crashed into the former Stokes Automotive building on Highway 31 shortly after 11 a.m. on Friday.

The Clanton Police Department along with two trucks from Clanton Fire Department and one truck from RPS responded to the scene.

The gentleman suffered minor injuries from the crash and explained to paramedics he was trying to find a gasoline station to purchase fuel for his lawnmower.

Clanton firefighter Chris Baker said they originally thought a crash had occurred into the Jacks restaurant but found the man next door at the former Stokes building. “We are just glad Scott is OK,” Baker said. “This could have been a lot worse.”
