James C. Smitherman

James C. Smitherman, 82, of Clanton died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster.

He was born on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 1929 in Chilton County, son of the late Arthur Smitherman and the late Lee Ora Baker Smitherman.

He was a frame mechanic.

Surviving are his wife, Geraldine Smitherman of Clanton; daughters, Nita (David) Summerlin of Selma, Gina (Randy) LeCroy of Clanton, Lisa (Jason) Paris of Wetumpka; son, Eddie Bray of Clanton; stepsons, Joe (Carol) Dedman of Clanton, Greg (Merry) Kelley of Clanton; stepdaughters, Brenda (Buddy) Green of Clanton, Linda Mims of Clanton, Angie (Bobby) Driver of Clanton; brother, Joel (Janice) Smitherman of Clanton; sister, Carolyn (Leo) Kelley of Clanton; 22 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Lee Ora Smitherman, daughter, Sheila Smitherman and brother, A.J. Smitherman.

Friends were received from 5–8 p.m., Monday, Nov. 5, at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.

Services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 6, at 2 p.m. at New Harmony Holiness Church with the Rev. Teddy Chadwick and the Rev. Kenny Coburn officiating.

Interment will follow in New Harmony Holiness Cemetery.
