Joe Dillard Wesson, 83, of Clanton died Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster.

He was born on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 1929, in Chilton County, son of the late Cora Lee Wesson.

He was an airplane mechanic.

Surviving are his wife, Geraldine Wesson of Clanton; two sons, Steven Lynn Wesson of Clanton, Travis (April) Wesson of Holtville; daughter, Jo Ann (Larry) Smitherman of Jemison; grandchildren, Jason Smitherman, Heather Wesson, Hunter and Colt Wesson; and great-grandchildren, Kirk and Jacob Smitherman.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Heath Wesson.

Friends will be received from 6–8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 31, at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.

Services will be held Thursday, Nov. 1, at 11 a.m. at graveside with the Rev. Billy Boatwright officiating.

Interment will follow in Chilton Memorial Gardens in Clanton.
