Verbena man killed in motorcycle crash

An early morning motorcycle crash claimed the life of a Verbena man.

Richard Alan Coburn, 53, was killed when the Yamaha motorcycle that he was riding struck a deer as it crossed the roadway, according to a press release from Alabama State Troopers.

The crash at 2:30 a.m. Friday occurred on Chilton County Road 49, about nine miles south of Clanton.

Coburn was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to the release.

No further information was immediately available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
