Shame on legislators for taxing elderly, disabled

Published 3:01pm Thursday, October 18, 2012

Dear editor:

Taxing the elderly and disabled is not how to help our state!

The new changes to the property tax laws creates a tax increase on those who can afford one the least. Gov. Bentley promised absolutely no tax increases, yet he allows this. It is absolutely shameful, and those in Montgomery who supported it should be ashamed. They have virtually guaranteed a lot more Alabamians will probably lose their homes because they can’t afford the property taxes.

Come on, Montgomery, stop punishing those who don’t deserve it!
