Published 9:49pm Monday, October 15, 2012

The Clanton Evening Lions Club has extended the deadline for registering for the Miss Chilton County Pageant for ages 16 to 19 until Wednesday due to changes in the Miss category.

Due to the change in the 16-19 age category, Miss Chilton County will now compete in the Miss Alabama Pageant.

Passing their crowns: The 2011 Miss Chilton County Queens will crown their successors at this year’s pageants.

There are certain rules and regulations a pageant must follow to be a Miss Alabama preliminary pageant. Organizer Diane Calloway said in a release, “Next year, changes in the Miss Chilton County category to comply with the Miss Alabama rules and regulations will have to be added.”

The winner will have an opportunity to earn scholarship money.

Any young lady who is a resident of Chilton County and is between the ages of 16 and 19 can turn in her application to C & C Trophy in Clanton by Wednesday. Registration fee is $75, which must accompany the application along with four wallet-sized photos.

The Clanton Evening Lions Club will also hold a Photogenic Contest in conjunction with the Miss Chilton County Pageant. The contest consists of the collecting of registration forms, fees, and one 5×7 photo for judging.

Those interested in participating in the photogenic part of the competition are not required to enter the pageant.

All contestants must live in Chilton County. The cost for the event is $5 per child entered.

The winners will be announced Nov. 17 at the Miss Chilton County Pageant. Pictures can be mailed along with fee and form to C&C Trophy, 209 6th St. N., Clanton, by Nov.1.
