Chilton County man killed in motorcycle crash

A Clanton man died in a motorcycle wreck in Panama City, Fla. over the weekend.

Panama City Beach Police Department is investigating the crash that happened in the intersection of U.S. Highway 98 and South Vestavia Street resulting in the fatality of David Wayton, 56, of Clanton.

At 7:50 p.m. on Sunday Oct. 14, police officers responded to a report of a crash involving a 2010 white Chevrolet Camaro, operated by Tess Tihista, 25, of Panama City Beach and a 2001 purple and black Harley Davidson motorcycle, operated by Wayton.

Tihista was traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 98 when she turned left to head south onto South Vestavia Street and crossed paths with Wayton who was traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 98.

Wayton was transported to Bay Medical Center where he died of injuries from the crash.

The crash is still under investigation and police declined to provide more details.
