Mary Pearl Johnston

Mary Pearl Johnston, age 74 of Verbena, passed away on Oct. 11, 2012, at Shelby Baptist Medical Center.

She was born in Walker County on Aug. 21, 1938, the daughter of the late Elmer Cook and the late Lucille Smith Cook.

She was a loving and devoted homemaker.

She is survived by: daughter, Sheila Easterling of Millbrook; son, Robert Eugene Johnston of Verbena; son, Ricky Lynn Johnston of Clanton; son, Johnny Wayne Johnston of Clanton; daughter, Teresa J. Connell of Clanton; daughter, Jonna Kay Johnston of Clanton; daughter, Peggy Sue Johnston of Titus; son, Bobby Lee Johnston of Jemison; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Rosie Browning, Charles Cook, Bill Cook, Bob Cook, Ann Montgomery, Linda Fyffe and Tommy Cook.

She is preceded in death by her parents, along with: husband, Robert E. Johnston; daughter, Kathy Diane Johnston; and sister, Wilma Cook.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Oct. 14, at 2 p.m. from the Memorial Chapel of Ellison-Cleckler Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Vanderslice officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow in the Floyd Baptist Church Cemetery in Verbena.

Final care and arrangements entrusted to Ellison-Cleckler Funeral Home of Clanton.
