Bears pull away in second half, earn first win

Billingsley earned its first win of the season, 26-0, over Autaugaville on Friday.

The game was scoreless after one quarter, but BHS quarterback Thomas Nichols found Jaytarius Steele for a 14-yard touchdown with 4:50 to play in the second quarter for a 6-0 lead.

Terrance Nolen ran in for a 6-yard touchdown with 8:17 to go in the third quarter, and the 2-point conversion made it 14-0.

Abram Dudley and Telvin Tyus teamed up to block a punt with 4:03 on the clock, and Tyler McLean recovered the loose ball in the end zone for a score.

Rashaud Caver concluded the scoring with a 7-yard touchdown run.

Caver had 67 yards on 14 carries. Nolen’s rushing numbers were similar: 66 yards on 14 carries.

Nichols ran 11 times for 42 yards, and was 4-for-11 passing for 43 yards.

Matt Prebula had 13 tackles on defense; Nolen had 11 tackles; Trey Tyus had five tackles and an interception; and Torrey Green defended three passes, forced a fumble and recovered a fumble.

Billingsley visits Sunshine next week.
