Clanton City Council approves bids

Published 5:27pm Tuesday, September 11, 2012

The Clanton City Council approved several bids at its meeting Monday:

•A bid for tires for all city vehicles, except those associated with the police department, went to Roadside Diesel for $28,344.43. Officials don’t expect to have to replace every tire on every vehicle in the coming year, but the same request was sent out for bids so that the council could have a fair comparison of prices.

•A bid for concrete went to Shelby Concrete for $86 per yard. This was the only bid received.

•A bid for fuel went to Thomas Oil for $0.05 per gallon over the rack price for both diesel and unleaded fuel. This was the only bid received.

•A bid for the hauling of rock went to Chilton Contractors for about $5 per ton (the price was different for several different grades of material).

•A bid on the rock itself went to Dunn Construction. The bid ranged from $7.25 per ton to $10 per ton.

•The sole bid received for dumpsters was rejected, and the council voted to send out requests again.
