QB Smith leads Mustangs to win at Coosa

Isabella won its season opener, 43-29, at Central-Coosa.

The Mustangs took a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. They held a 27-14 edge at halftime, and the score was 35-29 IHS after three quarters.

Quarterback Tyler Smith accounted for five touchdowns and more than 300 yards of total offense. Smith rushed 26 times for 263 yards and four touchdowns, and had 46 yards and another touchdown through the air.

Smith’s touchdown pass was to D.J. Talley. The 29-yard reception was Talley’s only catch of the night.

DeRodgus Campbell rushed six times for 102 yard and a score.
