Rivalry game important financially

The money collected isn’t all profit, of course. Hand estimated it costs about $500 for a typical home game just to paint the field and pay officials. Money made off home games has to be used to pay for gas to away games.

Look for complete coverage from the game on clantonadvertiser.com and in Friday’s newspaper.

Also, The Clanton Advertiser staff members will be on hand prior to kickoff handing out copies of the newspaper’s annual high school football preview magazine, “Kickoff 2012,” which features schedules, rosters, photos and analysis from all eight local teams. Don’t forget to pick one up.

Prediction

This rivalry game is always hard-fought, and unlike last year, the teams will be fairly evenly matched and similar. They’ll both try to establish the running game on offense. Early in the season, penalties and turnovers always play a significant role in the outcome. Look for the more experienced team to avoid crucial mistakes. The home crowd won’t hurt.
