Jemison teenager killed in wreck near Montevallo

A Jemison teenager was killed in a single-vehicle wreck early Saturday morning near Montevallo, according to a state troopers news release.

Sergio Hernan, 19, was pronounced dead at the scene, after the 1997 Ford Explorer he was driving ran off Shelby County Road 73 and struck a tree at about 2:50 a.m.

Antonio Miguel, a passenger in Hernan’s vehicle, was transported to UAB Hospital, where he is receiving treatment.

No other information was immediately available.
