Benny Charles Childress

Benny Charles Childress, 72, of Gadsden died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, at Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden.

He was born on Friday, Jan. 26, 1940, in Chilton County, son of the late Charles Alton Childress and the late Lena Barrett Williams Childress.

He was a purchasing director in the manufacturing industry.

Surviving are two sons, Alan (Lisa) Childress of Clanton and Kyle Childress of San Francisco; sister, Jeanene (Donny) Bean of Thorsby; brother, Jimmy (Debra) Childress of Thorsby; three grandchildren, Austin (Camille) Childress of Nashville, Katelyn (Zac) Champion of Thorsby and Isabella Childress of Clanton; and great-grandchild, Lincoln Champion of Thorsby.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Charles and Lena Childress; and daughter, Kristi Childress.

Friends will be received from 1-2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12 at New Life Community Church.

Services will be held Sunday, Aug. 12 at 2 pm. at New Life Community Church with the Rev. Scott Springer officiating.

Interment will follow in Thorsby Memorial Cemetery in Thorsby.
