Man dies in two-vehicle wreck in Chilton

A Deatsville man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon on Alabama Highway 143, just north of County Road 68 in Chilton County.

Brandon Davis Bracknell, 25, was driving his Honda ATV when he collided with a 2012 Kenworth tractor-trailer at 12:05 p.m.

John Mason Jr., 54, of Wetumpka was driving the tractor-trailer and was not injured.

At this time, no additional information is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.

In light of the accident, the Alabama Department of Public Safety stressed the importance of obeying rules when using ATVs.

According to the ADPS, ATVs are designed for off-road conditions, are difficult to control on paved roadways and are not legal for roadway use.

Alabama State Troopers provided the following safety tips for operating ATVs:

•Get trained.

•Wear a helmet.

•No children on adult ATVs.

•Don’t ride tandem.

•Don’t ride on pavement.

•Don’t ride under the influence.
