Bethany Baptist Church

Before the sermon, a men’s group sang “Some Glad Day When Jesus Comes.” Bro. Steve’s message was from Job 1 and 2, called, “Why Do the Righteous Suffer?” Job was a righteous man and was blessed with a good family, prosperity and good friends. In spite of the intense adversity and loss he suffered, he never lost his faith in God. He realized everything he had came from God and that God had the right to take it back. He never cursed God or sinned against Him.

Sunday night the message was from Luke 22:31-34. Peter experienced severe testing; Jesus explained to Peter that Satan desired to sift him, but Jesus said that He was praying for him. Through this testing, Peter’s attitudes were altered and he was strengthened. He was able, also, to be strengthening to his fellow disciples. Let’s always remember to cast our cares upon the Lord because He cares for us.

Upcoming Events: Sunday, July 29, (fifth Sunday) Lunch served in fellowship hall after the morning service. No evening service.

Calvary Independent Baptist Church

We were blessed with two baptismal services this Sunday. We want to say a special thanks to the many visitors that came and wish to invite them back for any of our services. We held baptismal services in the 10 a.m. adult worship service and then also another baptismal service during the 5:30 p.m. service. In the morning service our Pastor preached a message from 1 Kings 17:7-16 on God being enough. An empty meal barrel with God is plenty. He talked about how oftentimes we need to get from that running-river religion to the bottom-of-the-barrel religion. Sometimes our focus is so much on the provisions we lose focus of the Provider. God is enough for whatever He calls us to do. He will carry us through. Tomorrow will be OK when God is the God of your tomorrow, today. Sunday evening service we had a short message from Mark 8:14-21, baptismal service and then food and fellowship for family night downstairs.
