Mars Hill Baptist

Bro. Larry Felkins was our speaker today and took his scripture from Daniel 3.  It details a political situation where Shadrach, Meshach and Obednego were forced to make the decision to serve King Nebuhadnezzar and live or to serve God and die.

They were the king’s business managers and served at his pleasure, and they had great power.  The king had ordered that all government employees were to attend a dedication of an image and to worship the image.  These three told the king that they refused to worship his gods, nor would they worship the golden image.  They made the decision to live or to die.

We are all called to live for God; do we have the courage to do this when the pressure is on us?

On July 22 there will be baptism at 5 p.m. and at 6 p.m. Stephanie Leavins will speak.  On Aug. 3, the Men’s Brotherhood will have a church-wide cook out at 6 p.m.

Shiloh Baptist

It was a glorious Sunday morning at Shiloh this morning. We started our service with “His Name is Wonderful,” followed by “At Calvary” and “The Lily of the Valley.” Jan Fike, led the choir special “Joy In the Camp,” and the offertory hymn “Count Your Blessing.” The beautiful song “Silver and Gold” was our special music, brought to us by Jenny Mims.

Bro. Ernest Fike brought the morning message from Jude 20-25. He reminded us all that as a Christian, we have to walk the straight and narrow. It’s not always easy, but it is our responsibility to have compassion for others and lead them away from the broad and easy path that Satan offers. As the family of God, we should be leaders and help others to find salvation. He never said the path would be easy, but the reward is eternal life in Heaven with our Lord Jesus Christ.

Upcoming events: July 23: Shocco Springs Children’s Camp begins; July 29: Sunday hymn singing and ice cream social at 5 p.m., followed by a youth lock-in; Aug. 4: Shiloh youth will hold a car wash at Clanton Tire on US 31.

Happy anniversary to: Robert and Tammy Pairett.

Congratulations to James and Courtney Connell as they announce they will be having a little one.

Happy birthday to: Jim Sharp, Jan Fike, Billy Carter and Anne Marie Murray.
