Christ Independent Methodist

Our church service began this morning with the congregation singing “Praise the One,” “The Solid Rock” and “Burdens Are Lifted at Calvary.”

We were blessed to have our pastor, Dr. Mac Stinson and wife, Glenda, back from a national convention of chaplains in Spokane, Wash., where he was singularly honored.

Dr. Stinson’s sermon title was “Adopted.” His scripture reading was taken from Ephesians 1: 3-14. Verses 4 and 5 state: “According as he has chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love.”

Those on our prayer list for the present: Bro. Mac Stinson, Carl Glass, Beebee Sammons, Mable Mitchell, Cindy McCarvitt and Cathy Lufta.

Pray for our military, their families, our country, leaders, church, community, little Israel, Shea Simms in Kuwait and each other.

A special word of thanks goes out to each family who provided food for today’s meal following morning worship.

Have a blessed week.

Jackson Chapel Church

Bro. Gary Fant got the morning worship service started off with “At Calvary” and “When We All Get To Heaven.”  Bro. Glen Riley blessed us with “In The Garden,” and Bro. Dennis Smith blessed us with “My Home.”  Bro. Dennis’ text came from 1 John 1:4-9; 2:1-4. We as Christians should be the happiest people on Earth because we are saved and on our way to Heaven, but it is a shame that we walk around like we are the most miserable people on Earth.  We should choose to serve Jesus Christ because he is the light of the world, but it is very sad that people choose Satan, and he causes darkness in our lives.  We need to always remember that we need to have fellowship with our Christian brothers and sisters, because if we associate with people that are of the world they will eventually have us acting like the world.  The service ended with several coming to pray.

Bro. Gary Fant got the evening service started off with “Send the Light,” “I Want to Be Ready to Meet Him,” and Bro. Gary Fant blessed us with “I Call It Heaven.”  Bro. Dewayne Castleberry brought the message taken from Jeremiah 38:14-20 and John 12:42-43. Jesus gives us a choice whether to accept eternal life or reject it, but it is up to us to make the choice.  Jesus is here to meet our needs, but we›ve got to turn those needs over to him.  We have also got to learn not to worry about what people think about us, because they can cause us to miss out on many blessings that God has in store for us.  We as Christians carry burdens that we don’t have to carry because we want turn them over to God.  The service ended with several coming to pray.

Happy Birthday this week to Susan Smith.
