Lura Porter Mills

Lura Porter Mills, age 93 of Clanton, passed away on July 2, 2012.

She was born in Chilton County on Feb. 14, 1919, the daughter of the late Richard M. Porter and the late Lela Brewer Porter.

She was a loving and devoted homemaker.

She is survived by: son, Elvin Mills of Clanton; son, Edward Ray Mills of Birmingham; son, Billy Frank Mills of Bessemer; daughter, Laura Jean Mills of Clanton; along with a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by: husband, Ernest Mills; son, Raymond Earl Mills; son, Arlan Melvin Mills; son, Richard Dale Mills; son, Calvin Mills; and son, Alvin Mills.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 5 from 6-8 p.m. at Ellison-Cleckler Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 6 at 11 a.m. from the Memorial Chapel of Ellison-Cleckler Funeral Home with the Rev. J. Aaron Ellison officiating.

Burial will follow in the Archer’s Chapel Methodist Protestant Church Cemetery in Jemison.

Final care and arrangements entrusted to the Ellison-Cleckler Funeral Home of Clanton.
