A 32-year-old woman and former Jemison resident died Saturday in a drowning at the Cahaba River in Bibb County, according to the Bibb County Coroner’s Office.

The body of Mary Kay Seale, 32, of West Blocton was recovered at 5:02 p.m. June 30, deputy Bibb County Coroner Chuck Martin said.

Bibb County Sheriff’s deputies received a call at about 2:50 p.m. with a report of a possible drowning on the Cahaba River, near Cahaba Trace Road at West Blocton.

Lt. Jody Wade, Bibb County Sheriff’s investigator and dive team commander, said witnesses at the scene said Seale and a companion were behaving erratically before Seale went missing.

Her companion left before police arrived at the scene.

Results from an autopsy were not available at press time.
