Fourth of July festivities announced

Chilton County will offer several opportunities to gather and celebrate the Fourth of July.

Clanton’s annual firework show will be Wednesday, July 4 at 9 p.m. at City Park. The city’s garbage pickup will start at 6 a.m. July 4.

The town of Thorsby will hold its Fourth of July Celebration on Tuesday, July 3 at 7 p.m. at Richard Wood Memorial Park.

A homemade ice cream contest will begin at 6 p.m. with cash prizes of $100 for first place, $75 for second place and $50 for third place.

The contest is $5 to enter, and funds raised will go to the Collins Chapel Youth Group.

All municipalities will be closed Wednesday, July 4.

Lake Mitchell Home Owners and Boat Owners will hold its annual Cargile Creek Fourth of July fireworks event at 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 7.

The Lake Mitchell Pontoon Parade will begin at about 10 a.m. July 4, at Higgins Ferry Park.

Also on July 4, the Powerboat Parade will begin at 2 p.m. at Blue Creek on Lake Mitchell.
