Peach Classic car show changes location

Published 4:02pm Tuesday, June 12, 2012

The Peach Classic car show is back again this year, albeit in a different location.

The event returned after a hiatus in 2010 to Goosepond Park and a receptive crowd. The Chilton County Cruisers hope that moving the event to Ollie Park will increase attendance even more this year.

“It’ll be the same day as the auction,” said Ricky Easterling, member of the Cruisers. “It may be better [than last year], being closer to the auction.”

Easterling said the event’s start and end times were being discussed but would more than likely be moved up an hour to cut back on time spent in the heat.

“It’ll be the same format as last year,” he said. “But [more than likely] 8-1.”

The Cruisers expect a big turnout in not only attendance, but participation as well.

“We’re not taking pre-entries,” Easterling said. “We’re just taking cars as they show up. We’re expecting 60-80 cars.”

At the show, Easterling said there will be a DJ and concessions. In addition to having the actual show the day of the Peach Auction, the group plans to have a display at the Peach Jam as well.

He promised there’d be something for every kind of car lover.

“We’ll have all kinds [of cars],” he said. “Everything from the early 1920s to 2012. It’ll be mostly muscle cars, but we’ll have a variety. I think it’ll be good.”
