Municipal elections set for Aug. 28

Deadlines ahead of August’s municipal elections are fast approaching.

Anyone interested in running for mayor or city council in Chilton County’s four municipalities may start qualifying for office Tuesday, July 3.

Qualifying will run for two weeks. Forms are available in each municipal clerk’s office and must be turned back in by 5 p.m., Tuesday, July 17.

Election Day will be Tuesday, Aug. 28. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The last day voters can apply for a regular absentee ballot will be Thursday, Aug. 23.

Run-off will be held Tuesday, Oct. 9, if necessary. The newly elected mayors and council members will take office Monday, Nov. 5.
