Not shown are Krista Henderson, Mattie Cleckler, Hailey Calloway and Kandice Cleckler.

Next month, 12 young women will compete for the title of 2012 Peach Queen.

This year’s Peach Pageant orientation was held Sunday afternoon at Clanton First United Methodist Church’s activity center.

In all, 105 girls will participate in this year’s pageants: 28 in Little Miss Peach, 36 in Young Miss Peach, 29 in Junior Miss Peach and 12 in Miss Peach.

Those vying for Miss Peach are: Kelcie Beam, Hailey Calloway, Kandice Cleckler, Mattie Cleckler, Kendra Dawson, Allison Hayes, Krista Henderson, Morgan Little, Marissa Muir, Kaitlin Ray, Makenzie Ray and Brianna Veazey.

A pre-pageant tea for all contestants will be held Sunday, June 3 at Clanton FUMC from 2 to 3 p.m.

The first pageant, Little Miss Peach Pageant will be Saturday, June 23. Next will come Young Miss Peach on Monday, June 25, followed by Junior Miss Peach on Tuesday, June 26. The three pageants lead up to the Miss Peach Pageant, which will be Thursday, June 28.

All pageants will be at Chilton County High School, starting at 6:30 p.m.

Pageant organizers are also still looking for sponsors to provide gifts and prizes for the soon-to-be-crowned queens.

In addition to gifts given in past years, Durbin Farms Market and LJ’s Boutique will provide each winner with a new outfit and feature the queens on an Interstate 65 billboard.

“We would still like to offer more gifts and prizes and make it as glamorous for the new queens as possible,” said volunteer Julie Bentley. “We are still looking for gas stations and car dealerships in the county to provide gas and oil change services for the new queens. They put a lot of miles on their personal vehicles, and this would help out a lot.”

Anyone interested in donating a prize may email Bentley at juliedbentley@gmail.com.
