Harlen Kelly Hughes, 97, of Clanton, passed away on Feb. 7, 2012, in Clanton. He was born on Oct. 14, 1914, the son of the late Nance Hughes and the late Callie Lowe.

He was an automobile mechanic.

He is survived by: wife, Evelyn Bishop Hughes of Clanton; son, Kelly Hughes of Clanton; daughter, Connie Vines of Clanton; daughter, Virginia (Dewight) Rich of Chelsea; daughter, Christine Moates of Clanton; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 38 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild.

He is preceded in death by: wife, Icie Bell Hughes; son-in-law, William Vines; son-in-law, George Moates; daughter-in-law, Eleanor Hughes; five brothers; two sisters; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 8 at Mt. Springs Independent Methodist Protestant Church.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 9 from Mt. Springs Independent Methodist Protestant Church with the Rev. Don Vanderslice and the Rev. Wayne Hughes officiating.

Burial will follow in the Mt. Springs Cemetery in Clanton.
