See You At The Pole: Students to ‘converge’ Sept. 28

Students in Chilton County will have the chance to rise with the sun and gather at their schools’ flagpoles for an early-morning organized prayer event called See You At The Pole on Wednesday, Sept. 28.

SYATP is an annual, nationwide event that begins with prayer before school and ends with “Post Pole Party,” or P3, a night of prayer and worship at a public venue.

Chilton County’s fourth annual P3 Night of Prayer will take place on Sept. 28 from 6:45-8 p.m. at Corner Park in downtown Clanton. It is free and open to everyone.

The guest speaker will be Wes Springer, drummer and spokesman for the band Thalon and writer of several D-Now events.

“We would like to invite everyone in the community to come out and participate as multiple churches from around the community join together in unity for a powerful time of prayer and worship,” said Erron Price, student minister at Lomax Assembly of God. “More than ever, our culture needs to not only hear what Christians believe by what we say, but also see it as we stand up and stand out through lives led every day.”

Price said one of the purposes of SYATP is to encourage people to make prayer and worship part of their daily lives.

This year’s theme is “Converge,” based on a Scripture passage from Matthew 18:20, which says, “Whenever two or three of you come together in my name, I am there with you.”

Worship leader Matt Littlejohn of Lomax Assembly of God will also take the stage, as well as the drama team from New Life Community Church and local students to lead in prayer.

Price said the event has fostered greater unity among different churches and denominations in the county.

“More than ever, it’s time we the church take a stand outside the four walls of a building and represent the church,” Price said. “It’s an outward expression of an inward work.”
