John G. Padget Jr., 66, of Clanton died Monday, Aug. 8, 2011.

He was born Friday, July 20, 1945, in Niagara Falls, N.Y., son of the late John G. Padget Sr. and the late Dorothy Padget Villegas.

He was employed for 23 years with Joe Piper Inc. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1963-1965. He was born in Niagara Falls, N.Y. from where his family moved when he was 10 to Hayward, Calif. and moved back to Alabama in 1986, where he and Brenda made their southern home.

Surviving are his wife, Brenda Moates Padget of Clanton; daughter, Jeana Padget of California; Stepson, Danny R. (Brandy) Whiteside of Trafford; brother-in-law, Bernard Miles of Union City, Calif.; sister-in-law, Carolyn (Johnny) Robinson of Clanton; three grandchildren, Danny Ray Whiteside II of Trafford, Brandon Dale Whiteside of Trafford and Dakota Anderson of California; special nephew/grandson, Dustin Billingsley of Clanton; niece, Amber Miles of Union City, Calif., Kathy and J.B. Billingsley of Clanton; and nephews, Keith and Shelle Baker of Clanton, and Mark Padget-Fillipelli of Brentwood, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his father, John G. Padget Sr.; stepfather, Thomas Villegas; mother, Dorothy Villegas; brother, Ronald Padget; sister, Debra Padget; and sister, Sandra Padget-Miles.

Friends will be received from 12-1 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 11 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.

Services will be held Thursday, Aug. 11 at 1 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jack Drinkwater and Ivan Smith officiating.

Interment will follow in Martin Memorial Cemetery in Clanton.

Pallbearers: J. B. Billingsley, Freddy Piper, Johnny Robinson, Paul Johnson, Phillip Pledger and Curtis Armstrong.

Honorary pallbearers: Morris Price, Randy Pledger, Keith Baker, Mike Hand, Terry Hand and Ivan O. Truss.
