Mr. and Mrs. Rickey Smitherman are happy to announce the engagement of their son, Todd Smitherman, to Ms. Jennifer Lindsey Neal, the daughter of Dr. Jeff Manord and Mrs.

Nicole Manord of Winfield, and Mr. Jerry Neal and Mrs. Shannon Neal of Fayetteville, Tenn.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Ms. Michelle Whalen and the late Mr. Lee Whalen of Cullman, and Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Marshall of Fayetteville, Tenn.

She is a 2004 graduate of Cullman High School and a 2009 graduate of the University of Alabama.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Mrs. Irene Smitherman and the late John Smitherman of Clanton and the late Mr. and Mrs. James David Popwell of Clanton.

Smitherman graduated from the University of Alabama in 2008 and Samford University, earning an MBA in 2011.

He is currently a graduate teaching assistant at Auburn University in the School of Building Science.

The wedding will be held Sept. 24 at 6 p.m. at Gabrella Manor in Birmingham.
