Body found in truck at Verbena exit

Published 2:45pm Wednesday, June 29, 2011

Chilton County law enforcement uncovered a body Wednesday morning in a vehicle parked at the Verbena exit of Interstate 65.

Chilton County Sheriff Kevin Davis said it appeared the body and silver or gray Dodge pick-up truck had been at the location, beside the ramp at I-65 Exit 200, for possibly several days and that there were no obvious signs of foul play.

“There was nothing that just jumps out and makes you think there’s anything suspicious,” Davis said. “Right now, we’re just starting the investigation.”

Davis said the owner of the vehicle had been reported missing from Pleasant Grove but that he didn’t know yet whether the body found was that of the man reported missing.

An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday morning, Davis said.

Authorities were alerted by a passing motorist.
