‘Blast’ a community event

Published 8:27pm Friday, February 18, 2011

Friday night’s performance of “Blast from the Past,” the first performance of the year, was spectacular—as has come to be expected from the program put on by Chilton County High School students.

Blast goers may have wondered whether it would live up to those expectations, though, because the 2011 version marks a new era for the program.

CCHS teachers Ricki and Sheri McKee sponsored the event since its beginning 19 years ago, but Ricki retired and Sheri decided to let someone else handle Blast.

Luckily, that someone is Paige Scruggs, who had been involved with the performance for the past eight years.

Blast from the Past didn’t miss a beat with Scruggs.

We encourage all community members to attend a Blast performance. Another will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at the CCHS auditorium, and next weekend will include two more, one on Friday and one on Saturday, both at the same time and place.

Students and sponsors put much time and effort into the production, and it’s all for our enjoyment.

So, catch a Blast performance this year. You won’t regret it.
