“Give unto the Lord, O ye mighty, give unto the Lord glory and strength.  Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.  The voice of the Lord is upon the waters:  the God of glory thundereth:  the Lord is upon many waters.  The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.  The voice of the Lord breaketh the cedars; yea, the Lord breaketh the cedars of Lebanon.  He maketh them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn.  The voice of the Lord shaketh the wilderness; the Lord shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh” (Psalm 29:1-8).

Thought for the week: “Dark Shadows Fall in the Lives Of Us All”

“Sickness, injury and sorrow come to us all, but through them we grow and learn to stand tall, for trouble is part and parcel of life and no man can grow without struggle and strife.  And the more we endure with patience and grace the stronger we grow and the more we can face, and the more we can face, the greater our love, and with love in our hearts we are more conscious of the pain and sorrow in lives everywhere, so it is through trouble that we learn how to share.”

Worship service at Holly Grove Baptist Church in Jemison began with music by the men’s chorus with Jennifer Peoples and Julian Lowery directing.  The scripture was read by Tinka Nunn with prayer by Pastor Dukes and Minster Kevin Nunn.  Songs sung included, “Glad To Be In This Service,” “One More Time,”  “This Little Light of Mine”  and “How Great Is Our God?”

The morning message was given by Pastor Dukes.  His theme was, “The Power You Have When You Trust God” (Daniel 3:14-18).  God is able, but do you completely trust him if faced with a life or death situation?  He will take care of you if you put him first.  You can be in a strange land and still have God.  He will never leave you. He did not leave the Hebrew boys; he went in the fiery furnace with them and brought them out.  Don’t compromise; stick with God. Stand on your morals and dignity — stay with God.

Parents, instill God in your children and it will last a lifetime. Don’t associate with unbelievers; bad association spoils useful habits. Just believe in God’s will. Stay together and rely on Jesus.

Satan divides and conquers. Be an example to your children as Daniel was an example to the three Hebrew boys. Tell young folks where God has brought you. Tell them what he did for you, he will also do for them.

Stay with God and never stray from him. When God is in the fire with you, you won’t even burn; he is able.

The service concluded with fellowship by Pastor Dukes, deacons and the congregation.

Our sympathy goes out to the family of Mr. Ellis McDaniel in their time of bereavement.  Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 18 at noon at West End Church of Christ in Clanton.  Agee Brothers Funeral Home directing.

On our sick list this week we ask you to remember in your prayers:  Jerry Wilson, Lee Anna Worthey, Joe Frank Allison, Flora Talley Lee, Sam and Vivian Hicks, Robert Spence and Evelyn Austin.  May God heal, strengthen and keep them in His care is our prayer.
