The Clanton City Council talked with an organizer of an adult football league Monday, who was inquiring about holding practices and games at City Park.

The Central Alabama Red Devils is composed of 54 players, all over the age of 18. Many are former Chilton County High School and Maplesville High School players, and every county school, plus Billingsley, Marbury and Prattville, has alumni on the team’s roster.

In a previous meeting, some council members expressed concern about what kind of condition the team’s practice and games might leave the field in and how their use might affect other residents wanting to use the park. Youth league teams also play on the field.

Councilman Jeff Price suggested the team look into using the field at the Old Adair School for practices. No decision was made about the team’s five home games, though organizers have said they hope to find a location other than City Park.

In other business, the council took the following actions:

•Held a public hearing to discuss rezoning property at the intersection of U.S. 31 and Kevin Lane from R-1 to B-2. No one was present to speak in favor or against the rezoning request. The council voted to agree to the planning commission’s recommendation, which was to deny the request.
