A Clanton police officer was arrested and charged with domestic violence last month.

The officer is on leave without pay, pending court proceedings, said Clanton Police Chief Brian Stilwell.

Stilwell said the alleged incident happened while the officer was off duty and is being investigated by the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office.

Citing legal reasons, Stilwell said he couldn’t comment further on the case.
